The anode of lithium ion battery is made of carbon material or non-carbon material, adhesive and additive mixed into paste adhesive evenly coated on both sides of copper foil, after drying and rolling.

The anode material is the main body of lithium ion battery, which makes lithium ions embed and dislodge in the charging and discharging process. When a lithium battery is charged, the lithium atoms in the positive electrode ionize into lithium ions and electrons, and the lithium ions move toward the negative electrode and synthesize lithium atoms with electrons. During the discharge, lithium atoms ionize to lithium ions and electrons from the anode surface of the graphite crystal, and synthesize lithium atoms at the positive electrode.

At present, anode materials are mainly divided into two categories, one is the commercial application of carbon materials, such as natural graphite, soft carbon, etc., and the other is in the state of research and development, but a good market prospect of non-carbon anode materials, such as silicon based materials, alloy materials, tin metal materials and so on.

1、Carbon Anode Material

This type of material is a well-balanced anode electrode material in terms of energy density, cycle capacity, or cost input, and is also the main material that promotes the birth of lithium-ion batteries. Carbon materials can be divided into two categories, namely Graphitized carbon material as well as hard carbon. Among them, the former mainly includes artificial graphite and natural graphite.

2、Natural Graphite

Natural graphite also has many advantages, its high crystallinity, can be embedded in more positions, and the price is low, is a more ideal lithium ion battery material. However, it also has some disadvantages, such as poor compatibility when reacting with electrolyte, and many defects on the surface when grinding, which will have a great adverse impact on its charging or discharging performance.
